Yesterday the Xbox One was revealed. 
Lots of pent-up emotions were also revealed right along with it.
I live tweeted during the event (my first live tweet experience!), and if one person wasn’t exploding in rapturous joy at every single little announcement and demonstration, another was raging about how stupid Microsoft was to integrate a bunch of other forms of entertainment instead of focusing on gaming alone.
Me? I just think people need to calm the frak down.
Like any other properly raised child of the 80s and 90s, I grew up with lots of Disney.
I went to Disneyland several times and Disneyworld and the Epcot Center twice. I watched some of Disney’s best classics and their female leads.
Belle made me feel that being my bookish self was cool. Aurora made me want to live in a cottage. And Ariel was my ultimate heroine.
But as I grew older and re-watched some of these films, I felt like Disney had… well, sort of betrayed me.

For those of you who haven’t seen the music video “Space Oddity” by Commander Chris Hadfield on the International Space Station, you pretty much need to.
No, I’m not going to rail on you for not having already seen it. After all, it’s only been out on YouTube for two days, and not everyone’s as addicted to the Internet as all the people who were madly tweeting and sharing it are.
But it’s a video that actually makes a powerful statement about how new media production should be handled…

This isn’t going to be a regular blog post.
I don’t have time to write a full post right now because my husband’s grandfather passed away and we’re heading out of town tomorrow to attend the funeral. I’ve got some last-minute housework and plans to finish before we leave, hence the shortness of this post.
But I wanted to make sure you know that I’m still thinking of you, all my fantastic readers, and that I’m also working on ideas for the future that will make your lives geekier, one blog post at a time!

Move over, Trekkies: this weekend is all about Star Wars Day on May the Fourth.
You’ll see pictures of Star Wars fans all over the Internet, some of them tweeting out “May the Fourth Be With You” wishes.
You’ll also see many of them spending lots more money than they need to on Star Wars-related items.
For example, Ashley Eckstein over at Her Universe is releasing several new shirts and dresses through Hot Topic just for the May the Fourth. Also, Zen Studios is putting Star Wars Pinball on sale at 50% for various gaming platforms.
I guarantee you that these companies, along with many other Star Wars retailers, will be rolling in the intergalactic credits for their wares.
But you can have a perfectly wonderful Star Wars Day without having to spend a fortune, and here’s how!
